Beetles a pop up book

Description

All completely hand printed and assembled this pop up book explores the small world of beetles. Not to scale or anatomically correct they are a lively portrayal of the colour and pattern of beetles. My grandchildren were asked to supply comments on beetles and these comments are some of what they said.

I start by designing each beetle with the appropriate mechanism then I transfer the images of the parts to Shima ply wood and carve out the design. The parts are then printed using oil based inks and are cut by hand and assembled. This is an edition of nine books. Each book is then hand assembled. From conception to completion take about three to four months
